About Me
After more than a decade of working with children and adolescents as a teachers assistant in nursery schools' and as a camp counselor and group leader, I obtained my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University.
In my post graduate practice I learned to utilize my experiences with children and adolescents to build skills that enabled me to help them and their families as a mental health professional.
Now as a fully Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-008308) with 8 years experience working with clients, I am also qualified to work with individual adults, couples, and families.
Areas of Focus:
Children (Ages 5-9)
I often use therapy games, play and art therapy techniques to work with younger children who often cannot verbalize their thoughts and feelings.
Individual Adults
Although I work from a family systems perspective, I do work with individual adults. Those clients can expect that I might be asking them to bring loved ones into some sessions.
Pre-teens (Ages 10-12)
Pre-teens can have issues with self-esteem, anger, anxiety, bullying, LGBTQ, and impulse control. I help pre-teens develop coping skills to assist them in resolving these issues.
Families
Working with families is often the most productive form of counseling. Bringing family members together in the same room offers opportunities for understanding and growth.
Adolescents (Ages14-19)
Adolescence can be a difficult time for teens and their families. The teenagers and I work together to overcome issues such as: anxiety, self-harm, stress management, gender identification issues, LGBTQ, addictions, high school to college transitions, and social relationships.
Couples
Couple counseling is most effective for couple relationships that are in distress. Couples have an opportunity to discuss issues that are most concerning to them in a neutral and safe environment.
